Post-Megajam update


After almost two months, the results of the Epic Megajam 2021 have been released. On the behalf of the team we would like to congratulate not only the talented winners, but also everyone that participated in yet another great event.

Now that Epic is no longer holding our submission page hostage, we would like to release a more balanced, polished and all out improved version. Lets just call it Galaxy Industries - Definitive Edition.

The main change in the patch is just an all around balancing pass. Due to the tight schedule the original version did not get much attention in that regard, resulting in a game that was ultimately very easy. Now after the jam, more attention has been paid to balancing building, upgrade costs, the damage outputs and even teh rate of enemies being spawned. Resulting in a much tougher but also more fun experience.

Theres also in general a lot of life and improvement and polish updates, made to ensure the game feels both nicer to play and also looks more top notch. The detailed patch list will be added down below.

BALANCING

  • Added functionality to spawn more enemies at once in later stages 
  • Limited upgrades to 5, made them be more expensive over time 
  • Made buildings more expensive the more you build them
  • General damage and health tweaks for buildings, enemies
  • Updated player attack

VISUAL

  • Added VFX for healing building
  • Added VFX and SFX for buildings/player being healed -
  • Fixed resource tower SFX not looping
  • General Audio tweaks (volume balancing, cue creation)
  • Rebuilt lighting and reflection captures in the level
  • Fixed missing SFX
  • Added SFX for wave over / wave end
  • Added visual feedback for buildings being damaged
  • Updated background music to feature the full length one
  • Removed trees blocking the view in certain positions
  • Updated UI to reflect if you have no money to buy building
  • Added frog animations
  • Upgrade UI updates 
  • Added turret unfold sfx 
  • Added visual distinction to enemy and tile health bars

FIXES/GENERAL

  • Fixed delay when attacking as a player
  • Fixed player being able to buy a building twice when clicking the button on a short notice
  • Fixed player animation getting stuck
  • Made upgrade notices hide the price upon reaching final level
  • Added kill / waves counter 
  • Losing all tiles kills the player, instead of it fading to black
  • Made the intro last longer
  • Fixed player being able to push enemies
  • Altered camera position (more angled)
  • Added blocking to the central tile to stop it damaging the player
  • Added slight height variation for spawned enemies
  • Updated player spawn position 
  • Added possibility to zoom the camera in/out
